ESTEBAN ROSALES

CHOREOGRAPHER | DANCER | THEATRE PRODUCTION

I am one person, I am the entire entity. Sometimes I am the artistic director, sometimes just the performer, the body in space. Sometimes I am in the rafters, in the booth, and behind the scenes. On rare occasions I am two or perhaps all three, but all is equally fulfilling.

My movement lives in a realm of internal, disjointed, and mangled qualities, yet allows itself to be athletic, expansive, and direct as it chooses. The building blocks are my training in hip-hop/street dance forms and postmodern contemporary practices. My body of work is influenced by an element of whimsy, an element of mundane, and at its very core, a hint of sex appeal. Through my artistic voice I find comfort in pushing political boundaries as much as I enjoy saying nothing at all. Such is the hit television program, The Twilight Zone, dissecting the state of our socioeconomic environment, yet, will also simply beg the question, "what would happen if a man was psychologically tormented by a Sasquatch standing out on the wing of a moving airplane?" for shits and giggles. What I create is inherently mestizo, and deliciously queer.
